Huddersfield Authors’ Circle will be celebrating its 90th Anniversary next year. With that in mind, we’ve been thinking a lot about the number 90 and its potential for storytelling.
You could write about a car going 90 mph, an addict 90 days after kicking the habit, or a community filled with 90 houses. You could pen a poem about the right angle (90°), a nonagenarian (90 year old) or the Angel Number 90 which signifies a time of spiritual awakening, enlightenment, inner-wisdom, and philanthropy.
This double digit number has limitless potential.
The Workshop
Exercise 1
Write as many things associated with 90 as you can. If there’s a few of you, compile all your ideas.
Exercise 2
Take one of your ideas and write a small plan for a short story or poem. Where can that prompt take you?
Exercise 3
Take another idea and write a short five minutes piece based on it.
