Paul

Paul has been an avid reader and writer of poetry for the last 15 years, more recently in children’s rhyming. He was first inspired to write when visiting Glastonbury Festival. The festival introduced many creative avenues such as; performance poetry, creative writing and open mic events.

Paul has joined the Huddersfield Authors’ Circle to progress his skills as a writer. He hopes to delve into more challenging territory with flash fiction and short stories. Paul’s goal is to become a published children’s author, submitting to magazines and journals on a regular basis.

Paul’s inspirations range from a wide variety of creatives including: W B Yeats, W H Auden, Tony Harrison, Sylvia Plath, Wilfred Owen, Anne Sexton, Shel Silverstein, Lewis Carroll, Julia Donaldson, Tim Burton, David Bowie, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Suede, Salvador Dali and Vincent Van Gogh. Paul has a vivid imagination, enjoys writing on long train journeys and has a strong passion for surrealism, animals and the cosmos. He sketches and doodles in his spare time, and has had some of his illustrations published.

Paul writes under the pseudonym, ‘Elliot Chester’. ‘Catch an Echo’, Paul’s first self-published book, is a rhyme and colouring book for children and adults. It is available to purchase on Amazon now (click the link below). The inspiration for this book came from Shel Silverstein’s classic, ‘Where the Sidewalk Ends’.
